1. Mission

The mission of the Golden Thread Initiative (GTI) is to create world peace by increasing access to women’s and girls’ education and self-development programs worldwide.

Rather than simply funding academics or technical training, GTI focuses on supporting the development of every woman’s potential, including her well-being and spiritual fulfillment.

When women and girls have access to effective education and self-development opportunities, the long-term ripple effects transform their own lives as well as the lives of their family and community.

When a woman experiences inner peace, and gains the tools needed to develop it, she becomes an instrument for creating and sustaining world peace.

2. What We Do

Golden Thread Initiative (GTI) provides funding to make life-transforming programs available to women and girls of all nationalities, ethnicities, education levels, and socio-economic conditions.

  • We connect donors with education and self-development programs for women and girls. GTI selects organizations based on their ability to demonstrate measurable outcomes. Through donor support, we curate funding so that these organizations can focus on their areas of expertise and program development.
  • We engage in outreach to educate the public on the importance of women’s self-development through podcasts, social media, seminars and networking.

3. What We Fund

Golden Thread Initiative (GTI) supports educational and self-development programs worldwide which provide a safe, blissful, and nourishing environment where women and girls are free to explore the full capacity of their potential. One of the most impactful programs we know of is the Mother Divine Program℠, which offers women unique opportunities for spiritual growth and a role as dedicated, professional peace creators to influence the collective consciousness of the world.

GTI also supports Consciousness-Based education℠ (CBE) for women. Consciousness-Based education programs include a healthy living environment, a balanced daily routine, and academic opportunities.

The core of all these programs is the experience of transcending through practice of the Transcendental Meditation® technique.

We fund educational programs based in the USA and internationally: 

    • Academic degree programs
    • continuing education
    • short and long self-development courses
    • girls’ schools

We fund peace-creating programs:

  • Groups of women practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique and its advanced programs in the USA and internationally, primarily the Mother Divine Program.

Scientific research shows that TM and CBE programs lead to self-development, greater resilience against stress, improved brain functioning, and mental and physical well-being. Giving women the opportunity to develop their mental and physical health and brain functioning automatically leads to more orderliness and peace in society, through the ripple effects of their daily actions in their family, society, and nation.

The Transcendental Meditation (TM®) technique is a simple, natural and effortless mental technique. It is practiced by millions of people worldwide of all ages, vocations and socio-economic conditions. TM does not require any religious beliefs and is practiced by people of many religions. Decades of research verify its benefits for mental and physical health and its effectiveness at developing the qualities identified with self-actualization, fulfillment and peak performance. The Mother Divine Program (MDP) is an in-residence community of women who practice the TM technique and the TM-Sidhi program (an advanced technique of the TM program). The focus of the Mother Divine Program is spiritual fulfillment and world peace. We change the world by changing consciousness from the deepest level and allowing the ripple effects of that changed consciousness to impact communities and society. We believe that when divine feminine qualities are enlivened in collective consciousness,  a more nourishing, life-supporting influence will be felt everywhere. 

5. Research

A common feature of the programs funded by the Golden Thread Initiative are Consciousness-based Education℠ and the Transcendental Meditation® technique. GTI focuses on supporting these approaches because a large body of scientific research shows these programs lead to self-development, greater resilience against stress and improved brain functioning as well as improved mental and physical health.

Transcendental Meditation

The Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique is a simple, natural and effortless mental technique. It is practiced by millions of people worldwide of all ages, vocations and social conditions. TM is not a religion and is practiced by people of many religions. Decades of research verify its benefits for mental and physical health and even its effectiveness at developing the qualities identified with self-actualization, fulfillment and peak performance. The TM technique comes from an ancient tradition of knowledge of human potential called the Vedic Tradition. Often considered a spiritual tradition, a more complete analysis reveals that it is a holistic scientific tradition that has led to fundamental concepts in physics, mathematics, medicine, the social sciences, and architecture. The Vedic tradition utilizes various mental and physical techniques to develop human potential including Yoga, Ayurveda and the TM technique.

Mother Divine Program

The Mother Divine Program is administered by independent non-profit, nonsectarian organizations based in the USA, Europe, Asia and New Zealand. It is comprised of an international community of women who practice the Transcendental Meditation® technique and its advanced programs.

 

Established in 1981, the focus of the Mother Divine Program is women’s self-development and inner peace as the foundation for peace in society. The name Mother Divine reflects the universal qualities inherent in women of all walks of life that touch the lives of their families, communities and society as a whole.

The Mother Divine Program offers educational opportunities for women—ranging from weekend retreats to year-long enrichment courses and academic degree programs—in a protected, nourishing environment. More than 2400 women and girls from 60 countries have participated in the Mother Divine Program as of 2019.

Currently courses are offered at small residential campuses on five continents including North America, South America, Europe, Asia (Thailand), and Australasia (New Zealand).

The core groups of the Mother Divine Program are full-time participants practicing the most advanced techniques of TM and modalities such as Yoga and Ayurveda (natural healthcare).
